just think of all those disillusioned soldiers they made us read about sophomore and junior year.--Wow jo, thats so weird that you said that because we were, ironically, watching saving private ryan and sonya was commenting about how stupid it was that they made us read those books that romanticized war...like when the soldiers come back home to their "Sweethearts" and yada yada yada. If anyone is interested...I recommend "The Things They Carried"--it does not romanticize war at all. But it can be depressing, so watch out.

war makes you think about death. death makes you think about life and the purpose of it. i think that's one of the scariest parts of it for some.--very true. you sounded very wise here jo.

On a lighter note, my friends are the best! thanks to everyone who helped celebrate my birthday, even when its really not my birthday. And since I wont see you guys in a couple of days, um, take care and be safe.

P.S... I can't believe you signed me up for one acts auditions.

No, I do not like war nor do I think it is the answer to any question or problem. War is hateful and cruel. But I do support the men and women around the world who are now fighting and risking their lives so that I may be in the comfort of my home, typing in this blog.
very well put

okay so war. Today was pretty scary no? Catherine, Dafodil and I were in the band room watching the fox new channel or cnn or something like that when 5:00 Pacific time hit. Reality likes to hit in big ways. It's like, what does it all mean now? And I couldn't help be feel guilty. Practice started @ 5 so we had to turn off the TV and PRACTICE. I was pissed and upset...why would/how could we do something so petty like FLAG PRACTICE when literally the fate and lives of countries around the world were hanging in the balance.

When I was little I would pray that I would not have to experience war. That there would be no "war to end all wars" in my lifetime. Looking back, I see the naivety of it all...but I wish it were true.

But war is upon us. How do you prepare for something like that? I mean really, you can build bomb shelters or stock up on supplies but I'm talking about preparing yourself... body, mind, soul. How do you deal with loss and death? To justify the killing of human life with that of Freedom of the world? How sad...

Dear God, I pray that you look over those whose lives are in great danger and peril. May you keep them safe and away from harm. May you bring peace to the hearts of your people who are troubled. Please ease the suffering of others. Help up all to always look towards peace, and turn from hatred and anger. And I pray for the souls of those who have died or will die, may they seek refuge in the kingdom of heaven. Amen.
