Peas and Carrots

I unexpectedly had a very long chat with AMATOR today in his office and my heart is full of him. I know just how inappropriate the whole thing is, but how how how am I supposed to not lover him when I just want to talk to him forever? As Forest would say, we get along like peas and carrots. And how unfair is it that I should be so much in lover with him and that she found him first?! I'm just saying.

Love letters

at least, that's how I see them.

I've spent the last hour writing and revising an email to AMATOR; the drafts all varied between being super serious, slightly funny, and ridiculously lengthy. they all could have been taken either in the most upfront, innocent light--OR be interpreted to be filled with hidden declarations of love.

I cannot even begin to describe the giddiness I felt on finding the love letter in my mailbox:

Dear Michelle,

this is how I read it:

Dear Michelle, [he wrote DEAR...I am dear to him...HE LOVERS ME]
>
> I hope that this e-mail finds you well and enjoying the summer--even
> though (or because) you are hard at work in class. [he wants to know how I am and cares about my well being...he LOVERS me!!]
>
> 320 is MW 4:00-5:15. If you have any questions, please ask. If you
> can take 320, I would be delighted to have you in class. [He wants me to keep in contact with him...he MISSES me...he wants me to be a part of his life...HE LOVERS me!]

This is what I ended up writing in response:

Professor ****,

I am more than well, thank you, and hope you are finding time between all
the packing, unpacking and moving around to enjoy the last of bit of
summer.

I am sorry to hear that Classics 496 didn't work out; I was really looking
forward to it this fall. But there is always hope for next time, right?

As for 320, I haven't taken that course and while it sounds fabulous, it
is highly unlikely I will be able take the class this fall as it conflicts
with Humanities 403 on mondays. I think I might replace 496 with either a
Shakespeare or Medieval Lit. course--while not classics, they are pretty
decent substitutions, if I may say so.

Thank you for the email and please send word if anything changes (I'm
keeping fingers crossed because the eternal optimist in me demands it).

See you (hopefully) in the fall,

Michelle

haha you can see the places where I purposely toe the line between student and teacher and assume a relationship.
